Barry Cawston Postcard

Postcard, 2025

  • In 2016, photographer Barry Cawston released Are We There Yet? — a beautifully curated 250-page book capturing a striking visual narrative of Banksy’s Dismaland, set against the everyday backdrop of Weston-super-Mare, the seaside town that hosted the iconic 2015 event.

10 years later, Cawston returned to the town to present A Decade Since Dismaland, an exhibition at Weston Museum that reunites these now-classic images under one roof, just steps away from where the original spectacle unfolded.

Among the most memorable photographs from the book is Man’s Long Shadow — though not featured in the exhibition itself, it was available as a postcard in the museum’s shop. Now retitled Blood on the Track, the image captures a striking shadow cast across Paco Pomet’s 2014 painting Rojo. Cawston’s composition adds a haunting dimension to Pomet’s original environmental message, subtly emphasizing humanity’s looming presence — and responsibility — in the unfolding ecological crisis.
