Barry Cawston - Are We There Yet?

Publication, 2016

  • Photographer Barry Cawston’s beautifully crafted 250-page book offers a compelling visual journey through Banksy’s Dismaland, set against the backdrop of contemporary life in Weston-super-Mare, the seaside town that hosted the 2015 event. Blending documentary-style street photography with striking images from inside the dystopian theme park, the book captures both the spirit of the exhibition and the everyday reality surrounding it.

One of the most memorable images in the collection is Man’s Long Shadow, which features a dramatic shadow cast across Paco Pomet’s 2014 painting Rojo. The photograph adds a poignant layer to Pomet’s original environmental commentary, subtly reinforcing the idea of human presence and responsibility in the ecological crisis.
