Nótt

Limited Edition Print, 2013

  • Nótt, released in 2013, marked a significant milestone in Paco Pomet’s career: it was his first limited edition print, as well as his first collaboration with the printer Christian M. Walter — a partnership that would go on to produce many outstanding works.

Reflecting on this initial collaboration in a 2022 interview with House of Pomet, the printer recalled: “I got acquainted with Paco through Santiago Ydáñez, his studio-mate, with whom we used to work with occasionally. I was impressed by his masterful technique and his incisive sense of humour and knew that we definitely had to work with this guy in the future. At a given moment I invited him to come to our studio and try with prints. Artists usually, in a first approach to screenprinting, want and must control the different steps of printmaking in order to understand the process, to get in touch. So usually they want to paint (or draw) their cliches by hand. And that's what we did — the outcome, a quite classical spot colour screenprint, nice but somewhat normal in a way. From now on we would have to work out other techniques more suitable to the complexity of Paco’s paintings.”

Pomet himself reflected on the experience, stating: “The result is a restrained, clear and very convincing image, even if it is a simple motif. The sharp definition of the different layers, the monochromatic temperance and the high contrast applied make this print a very rewarding initiation under the guidance of a refined craftsman with whom I would be happily involved in future collaborations.”
