Internacional
Limited Edition Print, 2014
-
Widely regarded as Paco Pomet’s most sought-after print—and undoubtedly his most valuable—Internacional was printed by Christian M. Walter in April 2014.
The edition marked a major technical breakthrough, as it was the first time the print studio employed a custom-developed colour separation system, specifically tailored to the non-toxic, water-based inks they had been refining over the previous five years.
At the time of its release, Internacional was already among Pomet’s most admired works. However, neither the artist nor the printer could have predicted the surge in demand that would follow a year later.
In the summer of 2015, British artist Banksy gave Internacional pride of place—displayed in a gold ornate frame—in the main gallery of his dystopian theme park Dismaland in Weston-super-Mare. The piece quickly went viral, catapulting its popularity and igniting unprecedented demand for the print.
