A Journey (2019) is one of the most emotionally resonant works from Paco Pomet’s Celestial collection and a standout piece from his 2019 solo exhibition No Places at Galleri Benoni.

Set within the monochromatic, vintage backdrop of a sterile operating room—a space symbolically tied to both birth and death—the painting presents a stark, clinical environment disrupted by a vivid burst of colour. This lone, vibrant intervention transforms the scene, suggesting the fragile, luminous nature of life as it passes through the impersonal machinery of time and mortality. The operating theatre becomes more than a medical setting; it emerges as a metaphor for the human condition, a liminal stage where beginnings and endings converge.

A print of A Journey, meticulously crafted by master printmaker Christian M. Walter, was released in 2023 here on House of Pomet as part of a special edition set accompanying the book Celestial.
