In 2018, Paco Pomet collaborated once again with printer Christian M. Walter to produce The Melting — a striking print on cardboard, based on a 2012 painting.

The image marks a key moment in Pomet’s practice, as it was the first to introduce the surreal motif of a “melting” sky — an element that would reappear in several later works, including Eden (2013), El Paso (2014), Altar (2015), Dusk Attack (2018), Engage (2022), and Whirling (2024).

Printed in ten colours, the work showcases Walter’s trademark precision and craftsmanship, using a finely tuned colour separation technique perfected during earlier projects such as Rojo and Había una vez.

As with their previous collaborations, the result is a beautifully executed print of exceptional quality.
