New Paco Pomet work at Museum of Málaga

Con el corazón en la mano
Museum of Málaga
3 July - 21 September 2025

Paco Pomet’s recent painting Triunfador (2024) is included in Con el corazón en la mano. Anatomía y juicio (With the Heart in the Hand. Anatomy and Judgment), a major group exhibition curated by Fernando Castro Flórez at the Museum of Málaga. The show brings together 20 artists connected to Andalusia whose work explores themes of the body, perception, and symbolic violence in contemporary visual culture.

The exhibition takes as its conceptual starting point Enrique Simonet’s 1890 painting ¡Y tenía corazón! (And He Had a Heart!), a dramatic autopsy scene that becomes, here, a "visual pretext" for rethinking systems of representation.

Organised by the Andalusian Institute of Plastic and Visual Arts and produced by the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, the exhibition spans a wide range of media, including painting, video, performance, and installation. Other artists with work in the exhibition include Ángeles Agrela, Jesús Zurita, Santiago Ydáñez, Abraham Lacalle, Mar García Ranedo, María Cañas, Cristina Mejías, Nacho Criado, Juan Francisco Casas, Verónica Ruth Frías, Marina Vargas, Javier Garcerá, María Ángeles Díaz Barbado, Elo Vega, Pilar Albarracín, Fernando Baena, Cintia G. Reyes, Isidro López-Aparicio and Carlos Aires.
